Lesson 2.1
Introduce Your Business to AI
✔ Completed
Purpose
Before asking AI to help with marketing, website copy, social media, or customer communication, it is important to introduce your business.
Think of this as onboarding a new employee. The more AI understands about your business, the more useful its responses become throughout future conversations. Spending a few minutes creating this business profile now can save hours of repeating yourself later.
Use This When
Use this lesson when:
- Working with a new AI assistant.
- Starting a new conversation.
- Building a website.
- Creating marketing materials.
- Writing social media posts.
- Developing business ideas.
- Whenever the AI needs to understand your business before helping you.
Before You Start
Have your Brand Voice Profile from Module 1 ready to paste in. This lesson needs it - without it, AI has no way to know how you want to sound, and you will end up re-explaining your tone in every future conversation.
Then gather the following information if you have it:
- Business name
- Industry
- Products or services
- Target customers
- Service area
- Years in business (if applicable)
- Website (optional)
- Existing About page (optional)
Do not worry if you do not have everything. AI can help you identify the gaps, ask useful questions, and organize what you know.
Conversation Prompt
I would like you to learn about my business before helping me with future tasks. Here is my Brand Voice Profile from Module 1, so you already know how I want to sound: [paste your Brand Voice Profile here].
Please ask me one question at a time until you understand:
- what my business does
- who I serve
- what products or services I offer
- what makes my business different
- my service area
- my goals
Do not ask me to describe my writing style - use the Brand Voice Profile I already gave you instead.
If you think important information is missing, ask follow-up questions.
Once you have enough information, summarize what you understand, identify any uncertain or missing information, and ask me to correct it. Do not invent details about my business, customers, or goals that I have not provided - clearly label anything I have not confirmed as unknown rather than filling the gap yourself.
Then create a Business Profile that we can reuse in future AI conversations.
Dobie Tip
One detailed conversation now can improve dozens of future AI conversations. Think of this profile as your business owner’s manual.
Follow-Up Questions
If you would like a stronger profile, ask:
- What information is still missing?
- What questions would a customer ask after reading this?
- What makes my business memorable?
- What strengths am I overlooking?
- Rewrite this in plain English.
- Make this easier for customers to understand.
Expected Result
You will receive:
- A reusable Business Profile
- A clearer understanding of your business
- A document you can paste into future AI conversations
- Better responses throughout the rest of this prompt library
Save This
Business Profile
The source material for the rest of the module.
- Business name
- What the business does
- Products or services
- Ideal or current customers
- Service area
- Business goals
- Meaningful differences already identified
- Brand Voice Profile reference (pasted from Module 1)
- Unknown information still needing clarification
- Date or version reviewed
- Evidence label for each claim: Confirmed / Observed / Inferred / Unknown
Why This Matters
This profile becomes the source material for the rest of the module. It reduces repetition and gives AI facts to work from instead of forcing it to guess.
Common Mistakes
Skipping this step because it feels like busywork. AI cannot infer your business from a one- line prompt. Every minute spent here saves repeated explanations in every future conversation.
Letting AI guess at the gaps. If you are missing information, say so. A labeled “unknown” is more useful than a confident guess dressed up as fact.
Re-explaining your tone every time. If you already have a Brand Voice Profile from Module 1, paste it here instead of asking AI to guess your writing style from scratch.
Forgetting to save the Business Profile somewhere reusable. You will reference this document constantly through the rest of Module 2. Losing it means rebuilding it during a lesson where you should be moving forward.

Lesson 2.2: Define Your Ideal Customer
Now that AI understands your business, you will teach it who your best-fit customer is so it can help you speak directly to the people you actually want to serve.
